BLOG HOP CANDY
I am happy to be participating in the Cricut Card Fairies hop. The hop will be held from Saturday, Nov 20 thru Sunday Nov. 21. As part of the hop, I will be offering this Flower Soft unmounted stamp. I think it is so cute - I'd love to see what the winner makes with it. To enter the drawing for the stamp, just leave a comment either here or under the hop project. The winner will be chosen by random.org and posted on Monday, Nov. 22. I hear there will be other candy too!

BLOG CANDY winner
I think my blog candy posts were a little confusing because I had comments in a couple areas. Sorry about that; I will be clearer next time. So anyway, I put all comment numbers together, and "pulled" a number from random.org; the winner is Scrappin' Sista.... I think I have a way to contact you; if not, get in touch with me! Congrats - I want to see a project with this punch - I don't have it yet!!

WELCOME TO OUR VETERAN'S DAY HOP
I am so happy to be participating in this Blog Hop. First and foremost, I'd like to share my Veteran's story with you, then more about the hop!!
This is an interview with Mike, and once again, I am so happy to share it with you.
1. What branch of the service were/are you in? US Army
2. What’s your rank? Major (retired)
3. What made you decide to join the service? Why this branch?
Carter was President, the economy was horrible, I had a pregnant wife and the rest is history.
4. What’s the best thing about being in the military? The exposure to large, complex problems early and often. Awesome preparation to do just about anything on the outside. Too bad most employers don't get it.
5. What’s the hardest thing about being in the military? Being away from your family for long periods of time. Missing important things like anniversaries, your child's first steps or words….you give up a lot.
6. Do you think Veterans and Active Service Personnel get the respect they deserve? Today, yes. The 80’s were really bad.
7. What could crafters and artists do to help support you? Just about anything reminding of home and family helps. You get a sense of connectedness.
8. What else would you like to share with our readers? A military career is a tough road. Most don't make it past the first enlistment because it is so hard on people and families. Also, I know very few career military who want anything to do with war...there is a screwy popular notion that says just the opposite thanks to Hollywood drivel. A perfect example of the disconnect to reality was in the awful movie "The Hurt Locker". One, I would not have an idiot like the main character in any unit under my command. People like that get other people hurt and do not exist in anything like the reality I know. And yet we give it an Academy award. You should see some of the commentary on military websites. Also, military folks live at an accelerated pace. Most who have experienced real operations don't want to talk about it. Please respect that. A lot of vets and those currently serving have PTSD. They do not need reminding of what they've seen and experienced. It is not cool, glorious, or fun.
I am in awe of the dedication and devotion of this person. "Thank you" seems so inadequate, but THANK YOU TO ALL.
You should have started the blog at http://karelj.blogspot.com/, and you should have arrived here from Celeste at Touched By a Butterfly. When you are done here, please head over to see Michelle at Peanut Butter and Jelly Designs, http://peanutbutterandjellydesigns.blogspot.com/.
In celebration of Veteran's Day, I made this tic-tac-toe board. The bear and sentiment are digi stamps from http://deedeesdigis.blogspot.com/. Isn't that little bear cute?

CRICUT CARD FAIRY Blog Hop
The Cricut Card Fairy Blog Hop will be here soon - November 19-21, 2010. This month all of us "fairies" are practicing being thankful for all the blessings in our lives. What are you thankful for? Do you stop daily and thank those around you for blessing you? Do you appreciate the small things in life? We sure hope so! With that in mind the fairies have put together some awesome THANKSGIVING/THANKFUL themed crafty items. Along the way there will be opportunities for inspiration, and blog candy. So make sure you hop all the way through, leave comments on every blog, and then a comment on the starting blog (our Commander's blog!) when finished. She will be giving away a BNIP Hello Kitty Greetings cart to a person that comments on ALL the blogs and here too! All the info will be forthcoming soon. Happy hopping!

Christmas Card
I am just getting into paper piercing and found this pattern for a star which I sewed and then turned into a card. It took a long time and I'm not sure I'd make too many, but it was fun. I used thick cardstock (GinaK) a sharp, tiny needle and 1 strand of embroidery thread. I think next time I might use two strands. I also think the leaves should be outlined with a contrasting color of thread. Next time!
