BLOG HOP - CALENDAR
Welcome to our Calendar Blog Hop! This hop will be held December 28, 29 and 30. The Grand Prize Blog Candy is a brand-new Designer’s Calendar Cartridge, donated by Karelj at One By One The Flamingos Are Stealing My Sanity. In order to be eligible to win, you need to leave a comment on each and every stop on the hop, along with a way for Karel to contact you. She will choose a winner by random.org on the 31st and announce it on her blog, as well as contacting the winner personally.
I have to admit, I love some of this My Mind's Eye paper sooooo much that it's really hard to cover it up. But what better to cover it with than with Tildas and nestabilities. I suppose we all have addictions, but two of mine are Magnolia Stamps and Nestabilities - such cute shapes!
The Tildas were colored with my copics. The dates were stamped onto a present shape cut from Joys of the Season at 1"; the "bow" on the top of each present was blinged up with Stickles. I was very, VERY excited to use the grid - it was leftover from cutting out 1 1/2 squares and I've been wanting to use it for something! The little embellishments were cut from Stretch Your Imagination and JOTS. "December" and "2011" were cut from Daisy Chain. Because I could not cut these in a shadow option, I cut them the same size, cut the little links off the solid color and laid them on top of the glittery cuts.
For my blog hop candy, I have Perfect Pearls. I will choose the winner from the comments left under this post, using random.org, and will post the winner no later than December 31.

CRICUIT CARD FAIRY BLOG BOP
Welcome to our hop! In this hop we want to focus on being thankful for all the blessings in our life. I am personally thankful for my family and for the fact that I am healthy! Every day I try to remember all the "little" things for which I am thankful. I am happy to have such wonderful friends and family. We fairies are excited to be in this hop, and happy that we can send our cards to those who might need a little cheer. With that in mind, I made the following blocks as my project. My husband built a fence awhile ago and was looking to clear out the garage - so he cut some leftover wood into blocks and I will thrilled. Free! And he was thrilled to get them out of his garage. Of course, all the extras are now in my craft room - and it is crowded in there. Urgh. For those of you who asked, the blocks are 2 x 2. I used the Carousel cart for the lettering; it's almost like the Storybook lettering, but I liked these a little better for these.
Along the way there will be opportunities for inspiration, and blog candy. So make sure you hop all the way through, leave comments on every blog. Our Cricuit Card Fairy Commander will be giving away a Hello Kitty Greetings cart to a person that hops and leaves a comment on ALL blogs.
If you are interested in joining the Fairies, email our commander at cricutcardfairies(a)gmail(dot) com. It is a wonderful cause and it makes me feel as good participating as I hope it make the card recipients. THANKS to Crystal for all she does to keep up going.
Here's our blog list just in case you get lost along the way:

WELCOME TO OUR VETERAN'S DAY HOP
I am so happy to be participating in this Blog Hop. First and foremost, I'd like to share my Veteran's story with you, then more about the hop!!
This is an interview with Mike, and once again, I am so happy to share it with you.
1. What branch of the service were/are you in? US Army
2. What’s your rank? Major (retired)
3. What made you decide to join the service? Why this branch?
Carter was President, the economy was horrible, I had a pregnant wife and the rest is history.
4. What’s the best thing about being in the military? The exposure to large, complex problems early and often. Awesome preparation to do just about anything on the outside. Too bad most employers don't get it.
5. What’s the hardest thing about being in the military? Being away from your family for long periods of time. Missing important things like anniversaries, your child's first steps or words….you give up a lot.
6. Do you think Veterans and Active Service Personnel get the respect they deserve? Today, yes. The 80’s were really bad.
7. What could crafters and artists do to help support you? Just about anything reminding of home and family helps. You get a sense of connectedness.
8. What else would you like to share with our readers? A military career is a tough road. Most don't make it past the first enlistment because it is so hard on people and families. Also, I know very few career military who want anything to do with war...there is a screwy popular notion that says just the opposite thanks to Hollywood drivel. A perfect example of the disconnect to reality was in the awful movie "The Hurt Locker". One, I would not have an idiot like the main character in any unit under my command. People like that get other people hurt and do not exist in anything like the reality I know. And yet we give it an Academy award. You should see some of the commentary on military websites. Also, military folks live at an accelerated pace. Most who have experienced real operations don't want to talk about it. Please respect that. A lot of vets and those currently serving have PTSD. They do not need reminding of what they've seen and experienced. It is not cool, glorious, or fun.
I am in awe of the dedication and devotion of this person. "Thank you" seems so inadequate, but THANK YOU TO ALL.
You should have started the blog at http://karelj.blogspot.com/, and you should have arrived here from Celeste at Touched By a Butterfly. When you are done here, please head over to see Michelle at Peanut Butter and Jelly Designs, http://peanutbutterandjellydesigns.blogspot.com/.
In celebration of Veteran's Day, I made this tic-tac-toe board. The bear and sentiment are digi stamps from http://deedeesdigis.blogspot.com/. Isn't that little bear cute?
